It was a hard fought battle Friday night in AC!! Matt looked great in Round One, piecing up his opponent. He lost the battle in Round Two after falling into a tight guillotine. Watch out for Matt to make his return to the cage sometime this summer. We have a score to settle!!! War Grindhouse!! |

MMA is looming large in AC
By Bill Ordine
For The Inquirer
Mixed martial arts, a combat sport once considered a notch above street brawling, has muscled its way onto the mainstream sports entertainment landscape, largely because of the exposure it has received in casino showrooms and arenas.
Following the example of Las Vegas, a handful of Atlantic City casinos are lining up their own mixed martial arts shows.
The most ambitious is going on at Resorts Atlantic City, where the New Breed Fighters put on bouts every four to six weeks. Other promoters have events scheduled at the Trump Marina and Tropicana casinos.
The next MMA fight card at Resorts will be Friday, with New Breed Fighters departing from its usual format of amateur fights and staging 16 professional bouts in the casino's Superstar Theater. The next day, the Asylum Fight League MMA will send its fighters into the ring in Trump Marina's Grand Cayman theater. On April 16, the Ring of Combat MMA return to the Tropicana Casino's Tropicana Showroom.

MMA Fighters to Watch in the Next Decade |
Wednesday, 30 December 2009 00:32 |
The past decade saw a karate master take over the light heavyweight division, a professional wrestler rise to the top of the UFC and a once scrawny welterweight transform into greatest middleweight the sport has ever seen. If those are any indications, then trying to predict which fighters will rule the decade to come could be more pointless than trying to take down Vegas.
What follows is a rundown of the six fighters on whom I’m banking to become the faces of the sport -- a heady mix of established stars, some elite prospects and a few dark horses that could surprise everyone.

Fight Update!! Matt Mulherin Wins by Armbar |
Monday, 09 November 2009 23:58 |
Matt Mulherin made his amateur debut Saturday, November 7, 2009 in Harrington, Delaware in awesome fashion. Matt showed everyone in that arena what happens when you combine hard work, heart and dedication. Matt won his fight at 1:36 mark of the first round after executing a awesome double leg takedown, then a HUGE slam which apparently knocked his opponent out, followed by a text book fight ending armbar. Special thanks go out to all of Matt's coaches and trainers, all of his training and sparring partners at The Grindhouse, and to all of his friends and family that came out to support him as he made his debut in the cage. Look for Matt to return to the cage in early 2010. |
